Health Benefits

Age brings with it many benefits: wisdom, experience, patience and understanding. While our bodies may no longer look or move as we did in our younger days, we can transform our experience of aging into a positive and healthy one. This all starts with staying fit. Tai Chi and Qigong – mind-body practices that originated in China as a martial art – open the door to a fulfilling life in which you can: ¨ Keep your body and mind active, ¨ Increase your happiness and well-being, ¨ Prevent or ease many common ills of aging, ¨ Maintain physical independence, and ¨ Stay engaged with the joyful experiences of everyday life. In a Harvard Health publications entitled “The Health Benefits of Tai Chi”, it states “this gentle form of exercise … could be the perfect activity for the rest of your life.” Described as “meditation in motion”, Harvard stated that Tai Chi “might well be called ‘medication in motion’….And you can get started even if you aren’t in top shape or the best of health.” When combined with standard treatment, this Harvard article states that Tai Chi appears to be helpful for several medical conditions. For example: arthritis, heart disease, stroke, hypertension, etc.
